This is the Cyclones’ first appearance on the list since 2021, when they were ranked 8th.
AMES, Iowa — In just a couple of weeks, the college football season will be underway, and with that comes the preseason polls.
Iowa State earned a spot on USA Today’s preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll Monday, coming in at No. 21 — tied with Texas A&M. This is the Cyclones’ first appearance on the list since 2021, when they were ranked 8th. That season came to a close with a Cheez-It Bowl loss to Clemson.
Iowa State’s Week 0 opponent this season, Kansas State, landed above them in the rankings this year at No. 20, so fans have a Top-25 matchup to look forward to in Ireland later this month.
After that, the next team Iowa State will play that was ranked in the poll will be No. 23 BYU on Oct. 25.
