Phase one of the complex’s makeover will include the creation of a single building containing two new swimming pools, village changing facilities, multi-sport hall, fitness suite, cycle and group exercise studios, health and wellbeing consultation rooms, a children’s adventure play area and updated reception and café areas.
The temporary gym will be located at the Red Lion Centre in Red Lion Street.
“As we prepare for the exciting launch of our brand-new Health & Well-being Hub in Spalding—opening in early 2027—we’ll be moving to a temporary facility to continue offering services during this transition,” an email sent to members explained.
Castle Sports Complex plans
“Please note that the current centre will close on Tuesday, September 9, with the new temporary facility opening Saturday, September 13.
“To reflect this change, we’ve applied a reduction to your direct debit going forward to reward you for your loyalty and enable you to keep active during the refurbishment works.”
This means that that a member with a £31.60 per month all inclusive package will now be charged £26.50 until the new centre opens in 2027.

The email added that all services at the pool will remain open as normal for the duration of the build project, including swimming lessons, lane swimming, club sessions.
“We’re committed to supporting your health and well being throughout this period and look forward to welcoming you to our temporary facility—and eventually, to our state-of-the-art new Health and Well being Hub,” the message concluded.
The project received £20 million of backing from the previous Government’s Levelling Up programme.
