Marek Houston, the Minnesota Twins’ first-round selection in the 2025 MLB Draft, got his first taste of Target Field on Monday before the Twins took on the Kansas City Royals. Houston threw out the ceremonial first pitch and got to chat with center fielder Byron Buxton, also a former first-round pick.
Houston, a 21-year-old shortstop from Wake Forest, was the 16th overall pick in the draft and liked what he saw of the Twins’ ballpark.
“Hopefully I’m playing here on day,” Houston told the Twin Cities media, “This is what you dream of.”
Houston has begun his professional career at Single-A Fort Myers, where he’s batting .370 with 10 hits in his first 27 at-bats.
