A trash fire at NorthPark Center led to a large Dallas Fire-Rescue response and an evacuation of the mall Saturday.
According to Jason Evans, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesperson, units were dispatched at about 11:30 a.m. to the mall, located at 8687 North Central Expressway, after callers reported seeing smoke coming from the roof at the north end of the mall through a stairwell by the food court.
Evans said first responders located the source of the fire, which appeared to be trash. The fire was quickly extinguished, with an “out taps” being called just before noon, Evans said.
No injuries were reported, Evans said. The response drew about 20 DFR units to the scene, according to the department’s active call log. According to social media posts, the mall was evacuated.
