Ben Shelton will aim for his first Grand Slam singles title when he competes at the US Open this year.
The 22-year-old will be full of confidence, as Shelton won his first Masters 1000 title by defeating Karen Khachanov to win the Canadian Open.
Shelton will have another chance at glory before arriving in New York, as he is set to compete at the ongoing Cincinnati Open.
But a singles title is not the only trophy Shelton can win at the US Open, as he is set to play alongside Taylor Townsend in the revamped mixed doubles competition.

Ben Shelton says fans can expect some âhotshotsâ when he plays doubles with Taylor Townsend at the US Open
For 2025 the US Open revamped their mixed doubles tournament by making some changes never seen before in the format.
It will now be held in what is known as âFan Weekâ rather than alongside the men and womenâs singles and doubles events.
The size of the field will decrease from 32 to 16 teams, featuring the best ATP and WTA singles players, and during the first three rounds.
Teams will need to win four games to win a set, while the final will be played with regular six-game sets. One pairing sees Shelton team up with Townsend, and the All-American pair are looking forward to competing for the title.
âThis kind of sums up what we were doing at the Open that year, which was basically Taylor putting the team on her back, hitting all the hot shots,â Shelton said via the US Openâs social media accounts.
âWe had some really cool celebrations, I think thatâs what you can expect again. It was packed every time we were playing at The Open, so I hope itâs the same [[this year]. I know itâs in the pre-week this year, but I think it will be a lot of fun, a lot of the same.
âItâs a great player field, but whenever I have Taylor on my team I like my chances in mixed doubles. Sheâs the best mixed doubles player in the world so I think we have got a good shot.â
Have Ben Shelton and Taylor Townsend played doubles together before?
Shelton and Townsend played doubles together on one previous occasion.
That took place at the 2023 US Open, when Shelton was just 20 years of age and they produced a strong start to their campaign.
Shelton and Townsend defeated the fourth seeded team of Luisa Stefani and Joe Salisbury in straight sets, before overcoming Aldila Sutjiadi and Rohan Bopanna 6-2, 7-5.
The US duo eased past Demi Schuurs and Hugo Nys to reach the semi-finals, before they lost a deciding match tiebreak to Jessica Pegula and Austin Krajicek.
Reuniting after two years, both players have developed since then and they will be one of the stronger teams heading into the new mixed doubles event at the US Open.
