Summer isn’t over quite yet, but some signs of autumn are already present, like fall-themed drinks on menus and not to mention Halloween décor.
Soon, folks will be in search of everything Halloween-related, like candy and, of course, costumes.
Spirit Halloween, which calls itself the world’s number one costume store, has already opened some stores for the season. Of its more than 25 locations across the Chicago area, at least eight are already serving customers:
- Algonquin – Former Party City – 704 S Randall Road
- Bourbonnais – Former Carson’s – 1600 Illinois 50
- Highland, Indiana – Former Party City – 10300 Indianapolis Boulevard
- Joliet – Former JoAnn – 2741 Plainfield Road
- Melrose Park – Former Party City – 1222 Winston Plaza

More locations are expected to open in August, though the retailer hasn’t provided a date. All stores typically open by the end of the month.
With more than 1,500 locations across the U.S., Spirit Halloween’s website billed the retailer as “the the ultimate destination for all your Halloween needs,” offering an extensive selection of costumes, decorations and accessories.
Spirit Halloween stores typically occupy the retail footprint of other shuttered stores. For a full list of locations, including those not yet open for the season, check here.
