SAN ANTONIO – A motorcyclist has tragically died in a collision with a pickup truck on the West Side.

Around 8:25 p.m. on Saturday, police were called to the scene of a collision near the corner of SW 36th Street and Marbauch Avenue.

When police arrived, they found a motorcyclist who had been riding an unregistered dirt bike, unresponsive after a collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist had a passenger onboard, a 17-year-old girl, who was rushed to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the motorcyclist was riding along Marbauch when he attempted to overtake a truck and collided with an F-150.

Investigators say the driver of the F-150 remained at the scene and was detained for questioning. Witnesses said the bike hit the truck as it was speeding through the intersection.

At this time, police do not suspect any criminal activity on the part of either party involved.
