BURLESON – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Chambliss Basham, 86, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. A memorial service to celebrate Joan’s live will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, located at 5709 Wedgwood Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76133. On November 2, 1957, Joan married the love of her life, Edward Basham. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three daughters. As a proud entrepreneur, she also owned and operated The Winemaker Shop, pouring her passion and energy into a business she built from the ground up. Beyond her professional achievements, Joan was known for her incredible warmth and open heart. She never met a stranger, and her kindness touched everyone she met. She was fiercely protective of her family, always their greatest champion and staunchest defender. Her laugh was contagious, her hugs unforgettable, and her advice was always rooted in deep understanding and love. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; her daughter, Stephanie; and her brother, Pete. Joan’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved. She is survived by her loving daughters, Kimberly (Scott) Coen and Elaine Smith; her cherished grandchildren, Tiffany Lee, Brittaney Coen, Jennifer (Danny) Grigg, Caitlynn Coen, Chris Smith, David (Erin) Gaworski, and Scotty Coen; and her seven great-grandchildren.
