A man is dead after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Etobicoke early Sunday morning, police say.

The incident happened around 4 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway approaching Dixon Road, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a post on X.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a 29-year-old man, was ejected from his car, police said. He was pronounced dead while being transported to hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle, also a 29-year-old man, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

There were no other passengers in the either vehicle, police said.

The eastbound Highway 401 express lanes are closed at Eglinton Avenue, while there is also no access to eastbound Highway 401 from northbound Highway 427, OPP said.

All lanes are expected to reopen by 12 p.m.
