Firefighters are battling a greater-alarm blaze Sunday at a one-story commercial building in the Harbor Gateway community of Los Angeles, authorities said.

Firefighters were dispatched at 4:33 a.m. to 16208 S. Vermont Ave., the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The outside fire extended into the structure’s attic, prompting a small explosion and a roof compromise. Firefighters then transitioned to a defensive firefighting mode due to the conditions.

No injuries have been reported.

The Department of Water and Power were at the scene working to de-energize the structure, and hazardous materials specialists are monitoring air quality and water runoff.
