PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A family of seven was able to safely escape a house fire in Maryvale overnight, but sadly their dog did not make it out.
Phoenix firefighters responded to the house fire near 82nd Avenue and Thomas Road around 10:30 p.m.
When fire crews arrived, heavy smoke and fire were coming from the front of the house. They were able to use hoses to extinguish the blaze, and a hole was cut in the roof to allow smoke to escape.
Seven family members were able to get out of the home safely before firefighters arrived. Unfortunately, firefighters found a dog dead inside the house.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No firefighters were injured during the response.
