PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An 11-year-old girl has been found safe in central Arizona after she was reported missing several months ago in Phoenix.
The girl’s non-custodial mother and grandmother were arrested when she was found by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) earlier this month in Camp Verde.
According to YCSO, the girl was reported missing by her father in Phoenix several months ago when he could not find her. That began a multi-agency investigation to search for the girl.
Last week, the investigation found that the girl and the suspects were staying at a short-term rental in Camp Verde. YCSO and USMS performed surveillance on the rental property, then were able to approach and recover the girl.
YCSO said the girl was found safe and unharmed, and both people were taken into custody without incident. The girl was taken into protective care of the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS).
An investigation into this case is ongoing. YCSO said no additional details will be released for the girl’s protection.
