Another in a long list of telling moments about Jacksonville Jaguars two-way rookie Travis Hunter.

During a period in the team’s training camp practice on Aug. 12 at the Miller Electric Center in which receivers and defensive backs went at each other 1-on-1, Hunter was flagged twice for defensive pass interference, getting tangled up with Dyami Brown on the first and then pushing Brown in the back on the other to get an interception that was nullified.

Hunter didn’t fume, pout or complain. When the period was over, he raced over to the official and asked to explain the first call to him, with Hunter demonstrating his footwork and technique and the official moving him around to show how it was interference.

Chalk it up to a maturity level in which Hunter is always trying to get better.

Defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile said that while Hunter might be getting more defensive reps with the first team because of the absence of Tyson Campbell the last two practices, he’d be “locked in the whole way” regardless.

“He’s doing a good job. He’s progressing every day,” Campanile said. “He’s done a great job with splitting time on offense and defense. It’s been a tough task, but he’s handling it very well. He’s serious about playing at a high level on defense … disciplined and detailed the whole way through.”

Hunter played only on defense for the first time since July 31, and on just one side of the ball for the first time since Aug. 3.
