PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. – Fans of the Friday the 13th movies, get ready.
There’s a new T.V. series being produced right now, and it’s being filmed right in Warren County, NJ. The series is called “Crystal Lake” and it’s a prequel to the movies set in the 1970’s. The streets of Blairstown, NJ were filled with movie crews and classic cars Monday for yet another installment in the Friday the 13th franchise.
“They basically transformed it, and they made all these fancy shops and everything from the 60’s and 70’s to look like it. They even took out the speed bumps and everything,” said Jordyn Rumsey, a waitress at the Blairstown Diner across the street from the filming area.
The diner was featured in the original Friday the 13th, and they don’t let you forget it.

“We kind of keep it decorated like this now because just so many fans come from all over,” said Rumsey.
They have a map on the wall showing how far people have traveled to be in the diner that was featured in the original film. Rumsey says their busiest day? Friday the 13th of course.
“We have to stay until like almost 11 or 12 at night because it is absolutely crazy, and the line is wrapped around the building,” said Rumsey.
But we met some fans in town for the shooting of the new T.V. series as well.

“This is like my third time coming to this diner because we’ve been here before and I’ve always been a fan of the franchise,” said R.J. Rodriguez.
Looking at him, you might think Rodriguez is a little young to be watch slasher flicks, but he said don’t worry.
“My dad always skips the part whenever the killing parts are coming, and I always hide under my blanket,” said Rodriguez.
And he said he’ll have his blanket ready for Crystal Lake when it comes out next year on Peacock. Rumsey said she’s glad to see the series continue.
“It’s cool for some people because they see it as a horror film spot, and I see it as the town that I graduated high school from,” said Rumsey.
