Magnolia at the Modern: East of Wall
East of Wall is an authentic portrait of female resilience in the “New West,” inspired and portrayed by the women and girls who live it. Set in the Badlands of South Dakota, the film tells the story of Tabatha, a young, rebellious rancher who rescues and resells horses. She must make hard decisions to deal with her fractured family, financial uncertainty, and unresolved grief – all while providing refuge for a group of wayward neighborhood teens. The film will screen seven times through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

Theatre Denton presents Ken Ludwig’s Shakespeare in Hollywood
In Ken Ludwig’s Shakespeare in Hollywood, fairies from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream magically appear in 1934 Hollywood. They are delighted with the glitz and glamor of show biz and proceed to wreak enchantingly comic havoc on all that they encounter. The production runs through August 24 at Theatre Denton.

Improv Arlington presents Bubba Dub
Bubba Dub – original name Jerry Morgan – is known for his ‘Snitching on Rogers’ skits & other story lines on Youtube. His style of comedy consists of some foul language and highly adult subject matters, influenced by his East Texas upbringing and social media comics. He’ll perform five times through Sunday at Improv Arlington.

Ghost in concert
If you’re looking for a band that’s not like any other, Swedish theatrical rock band Ghost is definitely that. They combine costumes, heavy metal, and arena rock for a unique experience. Since releasing their debut album in 2010, they have slowly but surely made inroads in the U.S. market, culminating in their first No. 1 album on this side of the Atlantic, 2025’s Skeletá. They’ll play at Dickies Arena.

Randy Rogers and Pat Green in concert
Texas country music legends Randy Rogers and Pat Green will join forces for a special co-headlining concert at Billy Bob’s Texas. Rogers has released 11 albums in his career, most recently Homecoming in 2022. Green has also released 11 albums in his career, most recently Miles and Miles of You in 2022.

Saturday, August 16

Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth presents David-Jeremiah: “The Fire This Time”
The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth will present David-Jeremiah: “The Fire This Time,” organized by guest curator Christopher Blay. The exhibition, with a title derived from James Baldwin’s novel, The Fire Next Time (1963), features a group of vertical assemblages of black and other monochromatic paintings on shaped wood that form an installation. Collectively titled “Hood Niggas Camping,” the 28 works stand over 10 feet tall, surrounding viewers completely. The exhibition will remain on display through November 2.

Four Day Weekend Pop-Up Show
After putting on shows at both Stage West and Casa Mañana, Four Day Weekend has found a longer term – though not permanent – home at Ridglea Theater. The improv troupe, which performs a nearly two-hour show created from audience suggestions and participation, is set to take the stage there twice a night every Saturday through at least November 15.

Gretchen Wilson in concert
The debut single of country singer Gretchen Wilson was called “Redneck Woman,” so there was no mistaking what type of artist she would be. Her album titles – including Here for the Party, One of the Boys, and Ready to Get Rowdy – have solidified her reputation as anything but your stereotypical female musician. Although she hasn’t put out a new album since 2017, she released a new song – “Little Miss Runner Up” – in 2024, and collaborated on the recent Alli Walker song, “First Time Living.” She’ll play at Billy Bob’s Texas.
