1. H-E-B opens new store in Prosper, making it the 11th in the DFW area
The H-E-B universe is expanding in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Prosper, which sits just north of Dallas, is getting the grocery store where everything is better on Wednesday.
The newest store will make it the 11th in the DFW area.
2. Texas House Democrats’ 2-week absence forces Republicans to make a move
Both chambers will end this special session sine die Friday, and the governor says he will “call the Texas Legislature back immediately for Special Session #2” with the “exact same agenda.”
3. Water quality report highlights problems with Texas waterways
A water quality report from Environment America shows that more than half of U.S. beaches may have had unsafe bacteria levels in 2024. For Texas beaches, the percentage of unsafe waters rose to over 90%.

Mavs to host San Antonio Spurs on opening night of NBA season
The San Antonio Spurs will travel to meet the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 22 for the first game of the NBA season for both teams. The matchup will not only feature two teams from the Lone Star State, but also it will be the first game between the top two picks in the most recent NBA draft.
