A woman is in serious condition after being struck by a Lower Chichester driver in a road rage incident in Collingdale, authorities said Thursday.

The incident happened Monday just before noon in the 100 block of Mildred Avenue.

Collingdale police have charged James English, 35, of the 1400 block of Summit Avenue, with allegedly striking both the vehicle as well as the woman who was getting out of the vehicle, causing serious injury.

The victim was rushed to a University of Pennsylvania Hospital suffering from a shattered pelvis and is expected to be hospitalized four to six weeks, police said.

Collingdale Police Chief Shanee Mitchell said investigators viewed video of the accident.

English was charged with striking the victim after an argument and then striking her vehicle, before leaving the scene, the chief said.

On Wednesday, English was arrested at his home by officers from the Lower Chichester Police Warrant Division and turned over to Collingdale police, according to an information release from Lower Chichester police.

English was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, reckless endangerment and operating a vehicle without insurance.

He was arraigned before District Judge Lee Cullen, who set bail at 10 percent of $150,000, which English was unable to post and taken to Delaware County prison.

He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 22 in Cullen’s courtroom.
