STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — It’s time for Catholic elementary school students in New York City to get ready for the new academic year.
The Archdiocese of New York Superintendent of Schools recently released the 2025-2026 calendar for Catholic elementary school students on Staten Island.
Thursday, Sept. 4, is the first full day of classes for Catholic school students on Staten Island. For those students entering eighth grade, the Test for Admission to Catholic High Schools (TACHS) will be given Friday, Nov. 8.
This is a generic, systemwide calendar. Check your school’s calendar for all school-specific dates.
Here is a look at the 2025-2026 calendar.
September 2025
- Sept. 4 — Classes begin for all Staten Island students
October 2025
- Oct. 13 — Schools closed for Columbus Day
November 2025
- Nov. 5 — TACHS exam administered
- Nov. 11 — Schools closed in observance of Veterans Day
- Nov. 27-28 — Schools closed for Thanksgiving
December 2025
- Dec. 24 — Christmas recess begins
January 2026
- Jan. 5 — Classes resume after Christmas recess
- Jan. 19 — Schools closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
February 2026
- Feb. 16 — Schools closed for President’s Day
April 2026
- April 2 — Easter recess begins (includes Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Monday)
- April 13 — Classes resume after Easter recess
May 2026
- May 25 — Schools closed for Memorial Day
June 2026
- June 18 — Last day of classes (earliest day to end school based on 4 snow days and all holidays listed in the calendar)
