The Boston Celtics are the most decorated franchise in the history of the NBA.

After all, the Boston Celtics have 18 NBA Championship banners hanging in the rafters of the TD Arena, with the most recent one being in 2024.

While a talented roster is important to winning an NBA title, an intelligent head coach behind the clipboard is equally crucial.

Fortunately, the Celtics found that person in none other than their current head coach, Joe Mazzulla.

Oftentimes, iconic NBA franchises like the Celtics do not trust inexperienced coaches. However, the C’s overlooked that part when they hired Mazzulla as their head coach before the 2022-23 season.

Many believed that the Celtics made a rushed decision due to the complicated circumstances of former head coach Ime Udoka’s departure.

However, Mazzulla proved his doubters wrong by helping the C’s attain a 57-25 record in his first season with the team.

To make things better, Mazzulla spearheaded the Celtics’ 2024 NBA Championship run as the organization finally ended its 16-year championship drought.

In fact, Mazzulla has a phenomenal 74.0% winning rate with the Celtics during the regular season as the team has a 182-64 record under his leadership.

Boston Celtics trust Joe Mazzulla to bring more glory to the franchise

At 36 years old, Mazzulla is one of the youngest head coaches in the NBA. After all, he has a combined six years of experience as an assistant and a head coach in the league.

Despite that, the C’s seem to trust Mazzulla as their long-term head coach. This is evident from the fact that Mazzulla recently signed a multi-year contract extension with the Celtics.

The details of the deal are yet to be made public, but it’s safe to assume that Mazzulla could easily be one of the top-paid head coaches in the NBA right now.

The only question is, can Mazzulla bring another NBA title to Boston? Only time will tell.
