A man was hospitalized in critical condition after police said he was shot at a bar in East Houston.
Police discovered him as they were investigating three separate minor crashes in downtown Houston.
It started when officers were at a crash on I-45 near Pierce Street and an HFD vehicle hit an empty HPD patrol unit. They moved the crash off the freeway to Jefferson Street and Brazos Street. While there, police said another HPD unit was involved in a crash, but no one was hurt.
As officers were wrapping up the investigation, they said officers went to check out a disabled car at the same location at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
Officers discovered an elderly man inside with a gunshot wound.
“We later discovered through our investigation that a shooting had just occurred off of Harrisburg at a cantina, where that gentleman was involved in an altercation with another male, shots were fired and he was attempting to make it to the hospital,” said Sgt. Dallas with the Houston Police Department.
The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police are now turning their investigation to the bar shooting. It’s unclear if anyone had been arrested.
