PHOENIX — A man was arrested after he allegedly fought and stabbed another man in Glendale on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Robert Cheatham, 24, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, according to a Wednesday announcement from the Glendale Police Department.

Details on man arrested in Glendale stabbing

At 1 a.m., officers responded to reports of a stabbing at an apartment complex near 6600 W. Glendale Avenue.

Officers arrived on scene and found a man suffering from about seven stab wounds, according to court documents. Police did not release the victim’s name.

The owner of the apartment said Cheatham and the victim were arguing inside a bedroom, which continued to escalate, police said.

Cheatham and the victim threw punches at one another before Cheatham stabbed him in the stomach and back, police said.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.
