Search continues for missing man in Houston Co.

  • August 20, 2025

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A search continues for a man who went missing Sunday in Houston County.

Jerison Hankins’ family has been combing the wooded area behind his home on Mobley Lane for the past two days, hoping to bring him safely home. As each hour passes, their fears continue to grow.

“There are not really words to describe how we feel other than just heartbreak,” said Holly Pollard, who is Hankins’ sister.

Pollard says her 20-year-old brother was last seen outside of his home early Sunday morning. She says Jerison has bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. The family became concerned about his mental condition after seeing a series of bizarre posts on Facebook. The family contacted the Houston County Sheriff’s office for a welfare check.

“I don’t feel like there was a sense of urgency in the matter,” Pollard says after a sheriff’s deputy checked on Jerison, whose condition escalated.

Here are instructions on how to watch WSMV4 live on various platforms.

“Apparently, Jerison was in a manic state. He had come out into the road and was pointing a gun at cars that were driving by. As soon as he saw the blue flashing light, he panicked, dropped his gun and phone.” Pollard said. “That’s when Jerison ran into the woods behind his home. He hasn’t been seen since.”

During the search, authorities found Hankins’ clothes near a pond, but nothing else. In the meantime, the family says they will continue to search every area they can get access to, praying that Hankins finds his way home.

“He’s truly a wonderful person. He is just, at the moment, not himself,” said Pollard. “We love you so much. We are not mad at you. We just want you home.”

The family is asking for others in the area to check their trail cameras and Ring cameras to help in the search for Jerison Hankins.

If you see him, call the Houston County Sheriff’s Office at 931-289-4614 or 911.
