A man surrendered to police after he was charged with murder in connection to a shooting that killed his mother’s boyfriend that happened in North Philadelphia over the weekend, according to a spokesperson with the police department.
On Sunday, Aug. 17, officers were called to the 1500 block of North Gratz Street around 9:30 p.m. for reports of a man who was shot, police said.
When the officers got to the scene, they found 42-year-old Direll Skipworth suffering from several gunshot wounds, police explained. The officers took him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead around 9:45 p.m.
Then, on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 24-year-old Kenneth Warren turned himself into police in connection to this incident, police reported.
According to investigators, the shooting stemmed from an ongoing argument between Warren’s mother and her boyfriend, identified as Skipworth.
