The psychedelic rock band was set to perform with Modest Mouse and Friko.

HOUSTON — The Flaming Lips have canceled their scheduled performance at 713 Music Hall due to a family emergency, the venue announced Wednesday night. Modest Mouse and Friko will still perform as planned.

The cancellation was announced with doors still scheduled to open at 6 p.m. for the evening’s performances. According to the updated schedule, Friko will take the stage at 7:00 p.m., followed by Modest Mouse at 8:15 p.m.

The venue stated that fans with questions about refunds should contact their point of purchase for assistance. No additional details were provided about the nature of the family emergency that prompted the cancellation.

In their announcement, The Flaming Lips expressed their sentiment toward fans, stating “The Flaming Lips will always love you.”

The Oklahoma-based band, known for their elaborate live performances and experimental sound, has not indicated whether the show will be rescheduled. 

“The rainbow is at half mast,” read the brief social media post from the band.

The psychedelic rock band’s hits include “Do You Realize??,” “Fight Test” and “Bad Days.”
