Shed fire spreads, leaves two Northeast Side houses in ruins

SAN ANTONIO – Two homes were destroyed after an early morning fire on the Northeast Side.

The blaze broke out just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday on Asteroid Street near Wetmore Road.

Fire crews initially responded to a shed fire, but flames quickly jumped a fence and spread to two houses on the next block.

One of the homes was vacant and appeared to be up for sale, while the other was occupied. Both sustained severe damage and are likely total losses.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Fire investigators are now working to determine what sparked the fire.
