WASHINGTON (TNND) — New York State Assemblyman Matt Slater, R-District 94, fired back at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. on Tuesday, after she claimed to have originally come from New York City’s Bronx borough.
AOC’s claim came after President Donald Trump slammed her as one of the “dumbest people in Congress.” She fired back at the president via X and touted her tough upbringing in New York City.
“Mr. President, don’t take your anger out on me – I’m just a silly girl,” she wrote. “Take it out on whoever convinced you to betray the American people and our Constitution by illegally bombing Iran and dragging us into war. It only took you 5 months to break almost every promise you made.”
“Also, I’m a Bronx girl,” she added. “You should know that we can eat Queens boys for breakfast. Respectfully.”
Assemblyman Slater then responded to the post with a photo of his Yorktown High School yearbook showing Rep. Ocasio-Cortez listed among the students.
“@AOC if you’re a BX girl then why are you in my Yorktown yearbook?” he asked. “Give it up already.”
The New York Times reported in 2018 that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was born in the Bronx. Her family reportedly moved to Yorktown when she was 5, but she later returned to the Bronx after graduating college.
