PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A 19-year-old woman is dead after a crash involving a dirt bike and a truck in south Phoenix Wednesday night.
The crash happened just before 10 p.m. near 16th Street and Southern Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a woman, now identified as 19-year-old Britney Vasquez Gomez, in critical condition. Firefighters and paramedics rushed Gomez to the hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Investigators say Gomez was a passenger in the dirt bike and was heading southbound along 16th Street when it collided with a truck headed north that was turning left onto a private driveway.
The driver of the dirt bike did not show any signs of impairment, but detectives say the adult driver of the truck was processed for DUI. Authorities have not identified the truck driver as a charging decision has not been determined.
The crash remains under investigation. No other information has been released.
