A man who allegedly threatened a person with a knife was shot and wounded by Los Angeles Police Department officers in Montecito Heights, authorities said Saturday.
The officers were summoned at 8:20 p.m. Friday to a residence in the 5400 block of Monterey Road, the LAPD said in a preliminary statement.
Arriving officers confronted the man, who was allegedly armed with a knife, and they shot him, police said.
The man was wounded, taken into custody and transported to a hospital by ambulance for treatment, where he had stable vital signs, police said. No officers or civilians were injured.
A knife was recovered at the scene, to be booked into evidence, police said. \
An investigation at the scene was underway.
