As they continue preparing for the 2025 season, the Dallas Cowboys have some major question marks when it comes to key members of their defense. However, recent news opens the door to them getting some major reinforcements ahead of Week 1.

After being drafted in the second round of the 2020 draft, Trevon Diggs quickly emerged as a focal point of the Cowboys’ secondary. That said, injuries have caused his career to go off the tracks a little bit. Diggs played in just two games in 2023, followed by 11 last season before needing knee surgery.

Still recovering from his latest procedure, Diggs opened training camp on the PUP list. Not far removed from Dallas’ preseason finale, the team released a promising update regarding their star cornerback.

Dallas Cowboys put out injury update on Trevon Diggs

On Sunday morning, the Cowboys released a statement regarding the latest on Diggs. He has been taken off the PUP and has been moved to the active roster.

It remains unknown what his status will be Week 1, but this is certainly a big step in the right direction.

There’s a good chance that Diggs knew this move was coming, as he created a lot of speculation Saturday with a post on X.

While speaking with the media on Saturday, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer reflected on Diggs’ recovery journey. He praised him for the endless work he’s put in behind the scenes to get himself right physically.

“These things don’t happen if he’s not putting in the time and the effort to do that stuff that he’s been doing,” Schottenheimer said, per ESPN. “Really proud of him.”

When it comes to Diggs being on the field against the Eagles Week 1, Schottenheimer noted that conditioning will be a key thing they’ll be monitoring with him.

“Anytime you’ve got guys who have missed some time, there’s a ramp-up, there’s a buildup period,” Schottenheimer said. “We’ve got some time [to] see how his conditioning is, see how he moves around as we get going in practices, hopefully this week.”

Before injuries cost him essentially two seasons, Diggs was in the conversation for the NFL‘s best cornerback. Now healthy again, he’ll look to get back to cementing himself as a premier talent at his position.
