Yet another Garden State pizzeria has earned national recognition — and honestly, we’re not surprised. New Jersey knows pizza.
The Infatuation, a restaurant recommendation website based in New York, published their list of the 25 best pizza places in America last week.
The website featured a familiar New Jersey favorite – Razza in Jersey City. The locale is owned by New Jersey native and Rutgers alum Dan Richer.
Razza has come to be known for some of the best Neapolitan pies in the state, elite meatballs and delicious cocktails.
Here’s what The Infatutation had to say about Razza:
“Razza is making the best wood-fired pies in New Jersey. Just about everything here is made in-house or acquired from a place you can reach via The Turnpike or The Parkway, and it’s the Garden State’s produce that puts Razza on top. Their stellar red sauce is made from two types of tomatoes, resulting in a base that’s delightfully sweet with a slight acidic twang. And even though the Panna pie is draped in a blanket of cow’s cream and mozzarella, the heaping pile of arugula is the best part. But the ingredients really shine in the seasonal pies—in the summer, that means local corn with caramelized onions and fermented chili paste.”

This isn’t the first time the famed pizzeria gained national recognition.
Razza has consistently received recognition, from sites like 50 Top Pizza, The New York Times and PizzaToday.com among others. Richer has also been named a James Beard regional semifinalist six times, a “Rising Star Chef of the Year’ in 2011 and most recently was named a James Beard Award finalist earlier this year.
The Jersey City eatery took the top spot in the NJ.com Jersey City restaurant rankings and the shop’s burrata pizza also ranked No. 6 on the best pizzas list.
