Some of us like what we like. We know it. We own it.
And I like a white brick house. Oh, there are other houses that are beautiful, too, but just like some women like men tall, dark and handsome but might settle for a Robert Redford look alike (that’s a joke, y’all), some of us would say our preference is a white, painted brick house.
I’ve owned two in my life, happily slapping white paint on them after we owned them. Please, no haters. I certainly loved my red brick Georgian and Cape Cod just as much. So please feast your eyes upon the white brick beauty at 4304 Cartagena Dr. in Fort Worth. Isn’t it pretty?
Look how the trim so attractively coordinates with the roof. Look how the chimney stands tall and proud. Look at how beautiful the colors are as night falls and it’s lit from within.
Now this is a time when one certainly can judge this book by its cover. Inside is also tastefully styled…modern, sophisticated and just as pretty as the exterior.
The listing Realtor Maria Karnes with Coldwell Banker happens to like white brick houses, too. In fact, she owns this one and remodeled it, too.
The house’s open-concept floor plan allows the living space to connect with the kitchen and dining area.
Realtor Maria Karnes
The entry way opens to an open-concept floor plan. The updated kitchen with quartz countertops, stainless-steel appliances and custom cabinets connect with the great room. This living space is accented by vaulted ceilings, the original, pot picture-frame molding and a wood-burning fireplace. Nearby is the sleek home office which could be used as a formal dining space.
“I can take that style from the ’80s and modernize it,” Karnes said. She and her husband have been rehabbing houses since 2018, including her personal home and also investment properties. “I’ve always loved seeing things transform.”
The kitchen updates include stainless-steel appliances and quartz countertops.
The 2,396-square-foot house contains three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The primary suite could serve as a true retreat for the home’s owner. While the bedroom features a cozy fireplace, the accompanying bathroom includes a double vanity, stand-alone soaking tub and a frameless glass shower. The additional two bedrooms, complete with ample closets, share an updated bathroom with contemporary hardware and tile.
The primary suite’s fireplace adds a cozy element to the bedroom.
Updated tile and fixtures give the bathrooms a stylish look.
Buyers should know this house has more than surface updates. In the past year, both the HVAC and the aforementioned roof were replaced.
The house also has a location in its favor. Situated on a tree-lined street at the end of a cul-de-sac, delivers a quiet corner of Fort Worth. By car, the commute to downtown is 20 minutes and about the same distance to the growing suburb of Burleson.
All this is enough to tap the brakes in front of this 1982 house. The price? It’s listed at $449,000, which makes this white brick house even prettier. It’s on the edge of Wedgwood and Candleridge, close to Candleridge Park. The Realtor says the neighborhood is turning over with a lot of new, younger families moving in.
“This is where I grew up, and it’s a fantastic neighborhood,” Karnes said…With at least one beautiful, white house.
