The Chicago Police Department issued a community alert last Tuesday about armed robbers targeting South Side residents through online marketplaces.

Police are investigating two robberies that took place in Woodlawn in July and August. According to the alert, in both cases, victims arranged the sale of an item through an online marketplace. Upon arrival, offenders produced a handgun and took the seller’s property before fleeing.

The first incident occurred on July 27 along the 700 block of East 63rd Street. The second incident occurred on August 15 along the 6300 block of South Evans Avenue.
