Arlington will host a big-time nonconference matchup between two Texas men’s basketball programs in December.

On Tuesday, SMU men’s basketball announced that it would face Texas A&M on Dec. 7 at UT-Arlington’s College Park Center. With that matchup confirmed, SMU will face four SEC teams as part of its nonconference slate.

SMU is also scheduled to face Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and LSU in the early portion of its 2025-26 schedule. The Mustangs will officially play 13 nonconference games this season after starting the campaign with an exhibition matchup against Oklahoma State on Oct. 25.

The SMU-A&M bout is officially being called the Hoop Hype XL College Basketball Showcase. This isn’t the first time the Mustangs and Aggies have faced off. SMU has a slight edge in the all-time series, leading A&M 53-52.
