1. Trump, Hochul talk cashless bail, federal troop deployment to N.Y. in phone call

Gov. Kathy Hochul revealed Tuesday that she spoke to President Donald Trump over the weekend about his threats to deploy federal troops into New York City, trying to reassure him she’s got crime under control.

She says the president should ramp down talk about sending in troops. The president also spoke about his exchange with the governor while explaining why he’d like to send in the National Guard to big cities — including New York.

2. Mamdani meets with House Minority Leader Jeffries in Brooklyn

Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani met with Rep. Hakeem Jeffries in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn Tuesday, which is part of Jeffries’ congressional district.

Jeffries has yet to offer an endorsement in the mayoral race and has previously said he and Mamdani are “in conversation.”

3. Coney Island community sounds off on proposed casino

Officials who will decide the fate of a proposed casino in Coney Island heard from business leaders and community members Tuesday during a packed public hearing inside a local YMCA.

“We’ve had over 500 stakeholder meetings, 10,000 local signatures, 600 letters of support from NYCHA residents,” Robert Cornegy, a former City Council Member and founder of 610 Collective, said. “This is a community-backed proposal.”
