KHOU 11 received a statement from SkyWest, which was operating United Express.

AUSTIN, Texas — We’re following a developing story aboard a flight to Houston. Medical personnel was called because of turbulence on a flight.

According to SkyWest, the flight – which was operating as United Express – was on its way from Aspen, Colorado, to Houston when it experienced turbulence.

Because of the severity of the turbulence, the flight was diverted to Austin. At this point, we don’t know about injuries on board. We will follow this story and post any updates as we get them.

Below is a statement KHOU 11 received  from SkyWest when we reached out for comment.

“SkyWest flight 5971, operating as United Express from Aspen (ASE) to Houston (IAH), was diverted to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) after experiencing turbulence. The flight landed safely and was met by medical personnel upon arrival. Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of all onboard and we are working with our partner United to assist customers.”
