HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Labor Day weekend is here and Houston-area law enforcement say they will be cracking down on drunk and reckless drivers to keep the roads safe.
Harris County Pct. 1 Constable Alan Rosen said his deputies will be working around the clock this weekend, focusing on drivers who get behind the wheel impaired.
Extra patrol units will be on the streets through Labor Day, looking for impaired drivers, speeders, and anyone posing a danger on the road. Rosen said his deputies are prepared to pull over anyone making risky decisions behind the wheel.
“I always say that when you plan to go out you plan what you’re gonna wear, you plan where you’re gonna go, who you’re gonna be with, and now it’s equally as important to ensure that you uh make a plan for how you’re gonna travel if you’re gonna drink,” Rosen said. “This is what the message is. You can see that we are extremely unified. We have all the different law enforcement agencies that I want to thank so much for the collaboration.”
He said if you plan on drinking, consider calling a rideshare, using a designated driver, or staying put for the night.
Rosen said this isn’t about making arrests, it’s about making sure families make it home safely after the holiday.
