It’s a busy-busy time in the realm of Fort Worth dining news right now. Just look at the numbers: Five restaurants have just opened. Five restaurants have unleashed new menu items. Three restaurants have tempting new pumpkin specials. Plus much more that we cannot count.
Here’s what’s happening in Fort Worth restaurant news:
Zaxbys is opening a new location at 5384 Sycamore School Rd. in Fort Worth on Monday, September 1. Owned and operated by Brian Ellis of BG Foods 621, LLC, the restaurant will serve Chicken Fingerz, wings, fried pickles, and chicken bacon ranch loaded fries. The 3,000-square-foot location features a Modern Farmhouse design with seating for 40 and a drive-thru.
Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, a fast-casual chain with burgers and frozen custard, is now open at 9212 Summer Creek Dr. in southwest Fort Worth, a little east of the Chisholm Trail Parkway. Freddy’s is known for its steakburgers — pressed thin to create crispy edges, and finished with their “famous” Steakburger and Fry Seasoning — beef hot dogs, shoestring fries, and chocolate or vanilla frozen custard. The 2,808-square-foot freestanding restaurant seats 74, and has a patio and drive-thru. The chain has 87 locations in Texas including 13 in DFW.

HTeaO, an iced tea franchise, just opened a location in North Richland Hills at 8368 Davis Blvd., near Kroger, Walmart SuperCenter, and SuperTarget, which is pretty much everything you need. It’s operated by General Manager Erin Lindsey in partnership with her husband, Landon. Each location boasts 20+ flavors of sweetened and unsweetened tea, made using a proprietary water filtration system.
Little Caesars just opened a restaurant in Mansfield, located at 1509 N FM 157, near the Home Depot and Sam’s Club.
Einstein Bros. Bagels just opened a location in Saginaw at 1005 N. Saginaw Blvd. #100, with bagels, egg sandwiches, and other on-the-go favorites.
Smoothie King has launched “Power Eats” — its first food menu. Items include Peanut Butter Toast with bananas, strawberries, blueberries; Chocolate Hazelnut Toast with chocolate hazelnut spread, strawberries, blueberries, & granola; Avocado Toast with avocado and everything seasoning; Protein Boxes with hard-boiled eggs, cheese, & fruit, or with peanut butter & fruit; baked eggs with veggie, turkey sausage, or turkey bacon; or chicken tenders.
Mod Pizza has brought back the Pumpkin Spice No Name Cake featuring a pumpkin-spiced cake with cream filling, coated in a sweet, autumnal glaze. It’s like a pumpkin-flavored Ding Dong, and they’re $3.69 each.
SusieCakes, the home-style bakery chain, has debuted a seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte Cupcake featuring spiced pumpkin cake topped with coffee buttercream and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. Available September 2–28 at all SusieCakes locations.
Cicis Pizza, the all-you-can-eat pizza buffet, is welcoming back is Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Rolls, consisting of cinnamon rolls drizzled with pumpkin spice icing with cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg, available through November 9, or while supplies last.
Hopdoddy Burger Bar, the Austin burger chain, has added a Wagyu smash burger to its permanent menu featuring two patties with shaved onions, pickled jalapeños, and a new secret sauce. Russian dressing?
La Pulga Spirits, the small-batch tequila maker, has a new 2025 limited-edition bottle to celebrate the TCU Horned Frogs. Proceeds will benefit “Assist the Officer,” a local charity that supports the Fort Worth Police Department. The 2024 edition sold out in a minute. No pressure, just thought you should know that.
Sonic has two new seasonal items starting on September 1: Salted Caramel Toffee Iced Coffee featuring cold brew with salted caramel and toffee, poured over signature Sonic ice and topped with cold foam and salted toffee pieces, $3 for a 20-ounce; and Salted Caramel Croissant Bites featuring flaky pastries dusted with a caramel sugar blend, $2 for a 4-pack.
DQ has a new Dr Pepper BBQ Patty Melt starting September 1 available through mid-October, while supplies last, at participating DQ restaurants in Texas. It consists of a beef patty, American cheese, bacon, two onion rings, jalapeno relish, and Dr Pepper BBQ Sauce on Texas toast.
Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard has a new Apple Butter concrete, with the essence of slow-cooked apples and a hint of buttery richness. Plus three limited-time Concretes: Apple Butter Concrete blending Vanilla Frozen Custard with Apple Butter, Vanilla Wafers, and Apple Pie filling; Pumpkin Pie Concrete with Frozen Custard blended with Pumpkin Crème and Vanilla Wafers; and Harvest Swirl Concrete with Apple Butter and Pumpkin Crème, blended with Vanilla Frozen Custard.
