TROY, Ala. – Troy Soccer returns home to the Troy Soccer Complex on Sunday to host Jacksonville in a rematch of last season’s 2-2 draw.
The Trojans (3-2-0) are coming off a 2-1 loss at North Alabama on Thursday. Troy recorded 14 shots on goal, its second most on the season, but managed just one goal off the foot of Jiselle Daniels in the first half.
Daniels, a forward from Burlington, N.J., leads the Sun Belt with six goals scored on the season and is tied for third on the national leaderboard. The senior has scored in each of Troy’s previous four matches, the first Trojan to do so since Alissa Jones scored in five straight in 2014.
Alaina Uncapher registered a season-high four shots on goal on Thursday. The junior transfer from Bowling Green has made an instant impact on the Troy front line, ranking fourth in the Sun Belt in shots on goal (9) while totaling one goal and one assist.
Last season’s 2-2 draw saw the Trojans score goals from Delaney Wells, now a member of the Troy coaching staff, and Georgia Mulholland, while Danielle Trovato and Hailey Phillips each picked up an assist.
The Dolphins (2-1-0) defeated D-II Edward Waters 9-0 and Sun Belt opponent Georgia Southern 4-1 before a 1-0 loss to Miami to open the season. Manuela Restrepo, the team’s leader in goals (3) and assists (2), also scored in last year’s matchup with the Trojans.
