One person was killed and four others were injured in a shooting early Saturday morning in south suburban Chicago Heights, police said.

At approximately 4 a.m., officers with the Chicago Heights Police Department responded to a disturbance in the 400 block of West 14th Street near Wilson Avenue, police said in a news release. Officers located three individuals with gunshot wounds and another individual with injuries to his face.

All four people were taken to area hospitals, authorities said. A fifth person showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

One person died from his injuries, police said.

Two victims were listed in critical condition, while two others were reported to be in stable condition. Police said the shooting was isolated, and it was related to an altercation that occurred.

The shooting remained under investigation by Chicago Heights police in conjunction with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. Anyone with information on the incident was asked to call 708-756-6400.
