PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Expect another day with temperatures above average, as a ridge of high pressure will warm things up to 108 degrees this afternoon. That ridge will slide east of us and bring some monsoonal moisture our way later today.
This moisture will serve as fuel for thunderstorms later today; the best chance will be in eastern Arizona and the high country. The outflow of these storms will bring another round of blowing dust through the Valley, along with a few isolated storms.
An increasing chance of storms will be with us throughout the workweek, and we will also see a drop in temperatures. Highs by the end of the workweek will be in the mid-to-upper 90s. Our average high this time of year is 104, so it will be nice to be below average for a few days.
There is also an Air Quality Alert because of high ozone levels. That Air Quality Alert has been extended now through Tuesday.
