The Jacksonville Jaguars will enter the 2025 season with six captains, head coach Liam Coen announced Monday afternoon ahead of the team’s season opener against the Carolina Panthers.

The list includes two players on offense, quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Robert Hainsey, three players on defense, cornerback Jourdan Lewis, defensive end Josh Hines-Allen and Foye Oluokun and one player on special teams, punter Logan Cooke.

Captains were voted on by the players, Coen said, adding that the team will do a game-day captain to rotate throughout the season.

“We did a team vote before we left for the mini break there. The nice thing is, you didn’t have to fudge it to get what you wanted. It was pretty clear, based on the votes and the ballots, that these were the six guys that got the most [votes],” Coen said.

“There was a ton of guys that you could have bumped up potentially, you just don’t have enough spots, you only have six of them. But it was cool to acknowledge the amount of people that did receive votes throughout the team. That was nice to see.”

Lawrence, Hines-Allen, Oluokun and Cooke were captains last season for Jacksonville, while Hainsey and Lewis are newcomers, captains for the first time for the franchise.

Lawrence has been a captain every year since being drafted by the Jaguars with the first-overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, while Hines-Allen is entering his fifth year as a captain; he was voted a captain four other times (2024, 2022, 2021, 2020) for the franchise.

Oluokun has been a captain for Jacksonville every year since he was signed by the team in 2022. He enters his fourth season as a captain.

Cooke has been a captain two other times in his career, during the 2024 and 2022 seasons.

The team’s newcomers, Lewis and Hainsey, had not been named captains in their NFL careers before this season. Lewis was a captain for the Cowboys’ first game of the season last year. The Cowboys under former head coach Mike McCarthy (2020-24) did not have season-long captains.
