PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Firefighters prevented a fire from spreading to a church in south Phoenix Sunday night.
First responders were dispatched to the area of 7th Street and Broadway Road around 9 p.m. on reports of a structure fire.
When firefighters arrived, they found “heavy smoke and fire” coming from a vacant building, according to Phoenix Fire Department.
Because the building was fully engulfed, firefighters worked to protect an adjacent church building by spraying it with water from above.
No injuries were reported and no one was displaced. Fire investigators will continue working to determine the cause of the blaze.
