Getac Technology Corporation (Getac), a leading provider of rugged computing and mobile video solutions and a manufacturer with advanced in-house capabilities, today announced the launch of the V120, a new fully rugged laptop designed to deliver a premium computing experience in challenging work environments. The new V120 is aimed at professionals in industries including defense, automotive, public safety, and utilities, who need devices they can rely on for a diverse range of operational tasks, from mobile command and control to advanced data collection and analysis in the field.

Evolved from Experience, Reinvented Inside and Out

Shaped by years of proven deployment across key industries, the V120 builds on Getac’s top-selling V110, incorporating real-world feedback into a refined convertible-hinge design that allows the device to function like a tablet, meeting the evolving needs of frontline professionals.

At the heart of the V120 is an Intel Core Ultra 200H Series processor with integrated Intel Arc GPUs and Intel Turbo Boost technology, delivering efficient AI acceleration and smooth multitasking across demanding applications. The standard configuration features 8 GB of DDR5 memory and a 256 GB PCIe NVMe SSD, with optional upgrades to 64 GB RAM and 2 TB SSD for users who require even greater capacity.

The V120 comes with two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports as standard (with an option to add a third if necessary) for high-speed data transfer, while Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are designed to deliver smooth, reliable connectivity. For users working in remote locations, additional connectivity options include a dedicated GPS module, 4G LTE/5G Sub-6 with Dual SIM (Nano-SIM 4FF and e-SIM).

Usability enhancements are clear throughout. A larger and brighter 12.2-inch LumiBond display (1,000 nits) with Smart Touch and Getac sunlight-readable technology improves outdoor and in-vehicle visibility. Slimmer bezels and a thinner form factor further enhance portability without compromising on the larger display.

Additional highlights include a bigger touchpad for improved usability, larger integrated stereo speakers for better audio performance, and an enhanced 13MP rear camera for higher-quality image capture and video streaming.

Full-shift Battery Life

For long shifts in the field, the V120 boasts Getac’s hot-swappable battery technology, enabling users to seamlessly change batteries without having to turn off the device first and risk losing valuable data. An optional high-capacity battery is also available for extended operation when needed.

Robust Security Features as Standard

Data security is paramount for every business, which is why the V120 features a robust suite of security tools including TPM 2.0 and a smart card reader as standard. The V120’s user-facing camera also has a retractable shutter for added peace of mind. If further security is required, optional measures include Intel vPro, RFID reader, fingerprint reader, Windows Hello, and Absolute Persistence.

Fully Rugged, Highly Mobile

Built to thrive in harsh conditions, the V120 is MIL-STD-810H and IP66 certified (up from IP65 in the V110) and drop resistant up to 4ft (1.2 m), while its corners feature enhanced shock-absorbing technology to minimize damage in the event of an accident. A wide operating temperature range of -29°C to 63°C (-20°F to 145°F) and optional ANSI/UL and salt fog capability further increase its durability in extreme environments. Weighing in at just 4.63lbs (2.1 kg), it can be carried and operated for long periods of time with ease. An extensive array of handles, hand/shoulder straps, and vehicle mounting accessories further enhance its portability in the field.

A Capable and Versatile Field Companion

The V120 excels at a wide variety of industrial applications and tasks. For defense professionals, it can be securely mounted in vehicles and transformed into mobile command and control activities or used for critical data gathering and situational awareness in the field. Public safety workers such as police officers and emergency first responders can utilize the V120’s AI capabilities alongside the Getac Voice application, which enables real-time transcription of witness interviews at incident scenes, providing instant speech-to-text conversion for written reports. Witnesses can then sign reports using the device’s touchscreen. Utility engineers can use the V120 to perform complex maintenance operations and remotely collaborate with colleagues via the device’s inbuilt 13MP webcam and comprehensive connectivity options. For automotive engineers and technicians, it is ideally suited to vehicle diagnostic activities in busy workshops or at the roadside, where devices are regularly subjected to accidental knocks and drops.

“Today’s field professionals face increasingly complex demands that go beyond ruggedness. They need smart, adaptable tools they can rely on,” says Charlie Gibbs, Director of Product Solutions, Getac North America. “The V120 redefines what a rugged laptop can be, transforming vehicles and field posts into AI-enabled hubs for action and insight. By combining intelligent performance, flexibility, and proven field resilience, it enables teams to stay connected, capture intelligence, and lead critical operations without breaking stride.”

The V120 will be available in October 2025.
