PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A red-light runner caused a crash in central Phoenix that sent a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office sergeant to the hospital on Wednesday night, police said.
According to investigators, a white van driver blew through a red light while going east on Indian School Road and hit the sergeant who was on a motorcycle heading north on Third Avenue.
The sergeant was on duty at the time and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is in stable condition, firefighters said.
Police said speeding and impairment weren’t factors. An investigation is underway.
