We’re not sure if the cases will snooker any doves, but Lone Star Beer will be wrapped in camouflage this hunting season. The San Antonio-based brand is teaming up with outdoorsy Austin brand Poncho on a limited-edition merch, including camo print shirts, hats, and 12- to 30-packs of lager and light cans.
“We’ve been admirers of Poncho here at Lone Star for some time now, having the opportunity to join forces with them to highlight such a significant moment in Texan lifestyle was a big win,” explains Lone Star Beer Brand Manager Mark Champion, in a release. “Dove season is equally about good times and cold beers with friends after the hunt — and this collection really brings that spirit to life.”
The Camo Country collab features Poncho’s new South Zone print. The palette and pattern were designed to reflect the native South Texas terrain, working in familiar fauna like prickly pear, mesquite, and yucca. In addition to Lone Star Beer cases, the pattern also stretches across two signature shirt styles, The Carrizo and The Pearsall, named after popular hunting grounds.

The distinctive print is personal for Poncho. The brand’s creative director, Logan Crable, says that the South Zone camo was born from frustration with traditional gear that didn’t quite match the semi-arid landscape.
“Growing up hunting in South Texas, we always felt like most camo didn’t quite match our terrain – it was too green, too leafy, and not built for Texas brush country,” says Crable. “After months in the field and thousands of reference photos from leases and ranches, we set out to design something that actually looks like what you see when dove hunting.”
Although Texas dove hunting season dates are different depending on zones, it generally lasts from September 1 through late October or early November. A second season kicks off in mid-December. The Lone Star merch will only be available while supplies last, so its probably best to snag it before the winter.
The limited edition collaboration shirts and hats can be found at ponchooutdoors.com, and the cases will start appearing at statewide retailers this month. But the two brands are also giving Texans a good excuse to take a road trip. Poncho and Lone Star will host a Camo Country launch party from 2-6 pm on September 14 at Old Pal Texas Tavern in Lockhart.
