LA city shelters are looking for families to adopt big dogs and grown-up kitties – Daily News

Los Angeles Animal Services is partnering with the Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation to offer waived adoption fees for some dogs and cats during the Big Dogs and Grown-up Kitties Adoption Event happening now and until September 30.

There are more than 1,700 animals in the six Los Angeles City shelters. “With our six shelters operating at over capacity, we urge the community to adopt or foster and give an amazing pet a second chance at being a part of a loving home,” Annette G. Ramirez, interim general manager for Los Angeles Animal Services, said in a prepared statement.

Bill Crowe, director of The Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation, said in a prepared statement, “This is an excellent opportunity to save a life, adopt a great new companion, and help ensure there is lifesaving space for animals who have nowhere else to go.”

Dogs and cats who are adopted from Los Angeles Animal Services are already spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
