County moves to evict a 91-year-old widow to make way for Micron: Onondaga County is moving to evict a 91-year-old widow from her home in Clay, the same house the county promised she could live in for the rest of her life. The Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency on Thursday served an eviction notice on Azalia King, who lives at the edge of the 1,400-acre tract where Micron Technology plans to break ground in November on a huge chipmaking complex. The eviction notice says King must leave in 90 days. Her family says they’ll fight back.

Federal agents, deputies raid CNY manufacturing plant: Agents and sheriff’s deputies raided Nutrition Bar Confectioners in Cato on Thursday morning, detaining dozens of workers. Witnesses reported officers used crowbars to break into the building, separating U.S. citizens from non-citizens. The family-owned specialty nutrition bar manufacturer, founded in 1978, saw about 50 agents from ICE, Customs and Border Protection, and local sheriff’s offices.

Family, friends say driver’s short sentence is failure of law: Family members of Jill Barth called for tougher penalties for hit-and-run drivers as John Adamy was sentenced to just 1⅔ to 5 years in prison for killing the 60-year-old woman. Prosecutors said they couldn’t charge Adamy with homicide because he fled the scene, making it impossible to prove intoxication. Video evidence showed Adamy briefly stopped after hitting Barth near Shifty’s Bar but left without calling 911.

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield will raise premiums by 20.7% for some: That will be the rate increase for individuals buying through New York’s health insurance marketplace next year, significantly higher than the statewide average increase of 7.1%. The insurer cited rising healthcare costs, particularly for hospital care and prescription drugs, as the reason for the steep hike. This marks the second consecutive year of substantial increases for Excellus, following an 18.3% increase in 2024. Honoring Coach Carl: Longtime coach Carl Sanfilippo was honored Thursday night when Baldwinsville’s home turf was officially unveiled as Carl Sanfilippo Field before the season opener. Sanfilippo, 71, retired after leading the team for 40 years. The emotional ceremony featured dozens of former players as “Coach Carl” greeted each current player while assistants wore shirts reading “Leave a Legacy.” Now working as “Captain Carl” on tour boats, Sanfilippo admits he’d “rather be on a football field.” (Lindsay Kramer photo)
