This is an early Conference USA game. Liberty is 1-0 on the season while Jacksonville State is 0-1. This is the first conference game of the season for both teams.
Liberty opened its season with a 28-7 win over Maine. Quarterback Ethan Vasko was 19-for-33 for 197 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for one as well in the victory. It was a bit of a strange game as it was tied 7-7 entering the fourth quarter, but Liberty scored three touchdowns in the final minutes.
Jacksonville State opened the year with a competitive 17-10 loss to Big 12 program UCF. The Gamecocks led 10-3 in the fourth quarter after an Andre Paul touchdown, but the Golden Knights passing attack found some late steam to thwart the upset bid.
