JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Music and vibes are returning to Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing Park on Sept. 14 for the Pop-Out live concert series finale.
Odd Rod is a spoken word artist who will be performing about a sensitive topic.
“I wrote a suicide poem,” Odd Rod said. “It saved my life for all these years, I have been saving lives with more poetry and more storytelling. It is also National Suicide Prevention month. I will be able to share my story and encourage people to keep their lives from that stage.”

Larry Love started this movement and is the curator of the Pop-Out. He said he is thankful for the support and is ready to open this up for other artists from other cities. He said the concert series will happen again next year.
“We saw families from toddlers to elders who were there to see us get together and have such a great time and come together in unity and great energy,” Love said.
Erin Kendrick brings artists together, performances and other programming to the park with the hopes that the community is engaged and embraces it.
“This has been obviously one of the more popular events that we’ve had. It is a time for families to gather [and] friends to gather. It is a safe space. It is an excellent event.

She said she wants it to be a place that always commemorates the Johnson brothers.
“It is really in the spirit of Lift Every Voice and Singing. This is the one you want to attend,” Kendrick said.
The concert series finale takes place on Sept. 14 from 5-8 p.m. at Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing Park.
