Kohn dancing in front of his teammates
As tradition demands, every new Black Stars player must undergo the famous initiation rite, introducing himself to the team and entertaining his teammates and officials with a short dance.
This international window, it was the turn of debutants Derrick Arthur Kohn and Kwasi Sibo, who took centre stage to perform their moves to the cheers and applauses of the squad.
Kohn, the German-born Union Berlin defender, earned his first call-up to Ghana’s senior national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The 26-year-old versatile left-back, who previously represented Germany at youth level, has now pledged his international future to Ghana. He could make his debut on September 8, 2025, when the Black Stars face Mali in Accra.

Real Oviedo midfielder, Kwasi Sibo, joined camp later as a replacement for the injured Ibrahim Sulemana, who was forced to return to Bologna for further medical assessment.
The 27-year-old has been in fine form in Spain, playing a crucial role in Oviedo’s promotion to La Liga last season and starting all three of their matches in the 2025/26 campaign so far.
Upon reporting to camp, Sibo also underwent the initiation dance, taking his turn to delight the squad. Both players were in high spirits, showing off their moves as teammates clapped and cheered them on.
The Black Stars will be hoping the fresh energy from their new additions can inspire them in their upcoming fixture.
Ghana will be hosting Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8, 2025, in what promises to be a crucial Group I clash.
A win for the Black Stars will cement their place at the top standings and make qualification to the 2026 World Cup a real possibility.
